Brother MFC-L2680DW Driver Download. I recommend to set up a USB 2.0 cable (USB-A to USB-B), because the configuration directly on the device is rather laborious. This cable is unfortunately not included, and may need to be purchased separately (in the local Saturn eg 15 € for 5m). Important: Never connect the printer to the Mac OS via USB before turning it on for the first time. Instead just connect to the power and make the settings country and language on the LCD. If you have a CD drive (possibly external), you can now simply insert the CD, and follow the link to the Brother website, and there download the current driver.

If not, you have to go to the website manually (what else does the link on CD also not): [...] and there download the drivers for its respective OSX version. Then open the downloaded file (just double-click) and start "Start Here OSX" (also by double-clicking). Next, select the connection type to the printer: WLAN or USB. If already a WLAN is available, I recommend here WLAN (attention: the printer supports only 2.4GHz WLANs, one can however problem-free from a 5GHz WLAN in with the printer in the 2.4GHz WLAN communicate, if the Accesspoint for both the same IP Subnet used). Next, the installer requests the printer to be temporarily connected via the USB cable. _Jetzt_ we connected the printer via USB to the computer. The installer will now start searching for existing WLANs.

Attention: It may be that the Mac / OSX now offers to set up the printer via USB. This request _muss_ must be rejected (otherwise the installation program will not work properly). From now on you can follow the instructions of the installer, and at the end there are printers and scanners available on OSX. Now open the printer website via "Settings-> Printers and Scanners-> Options and Levels-> Open Printer Webpage". There you first set an admin password. Then you can on the website under "Administration-> Firmware Update" a firmware update of the printer trigger. The latter fixes, among other things, the problems with the idle state of the device.

I basically tested three functions: printing from OSX (via CUPS driver), printing from iOS (via AirPrint) and scanning. The printing results are very good for a device in this price range. The warm-up time is relatively long, but the printing speed is sufficient for home use. The heat development is not as high as with my Samsung laser and the paper is not so much wavy even with larger print jobs. Hibernation issues do not exist on OSX or iOS. On iOS, in the Airprint menu for printer configuration, only the duplex capability is offered, which is sufficient for me. The results by far satisfy my requirements (which essentially include the scanning and archiving of important mail, eg tax bills, etc.).
